For her recording debut Jana Srejma KacĂrková has chosen a relatively little known and rarely recorded repertoire of songs by Czech 20th century composers, mostly on Czech and folk texts. The song cycles as well as individual songs she has picked were written during a period of nearly 70 years, beginning in 1907 when Otakar Zich's oldest cycle PĂsne a pĂsnicky (Songs and Ditties) was written, and spanning to 1973 when Zdenek Blazek composer Sedm pĂsnĂ v lidovĂ©m tĂłnu (Seven Songs in Folk Tone). Jana Srejma KacĂrková was born in CeskĂ© Budejovice. In 2006 she graduated from the Prague Conservatory. During her studies, she won a number of awards at the AntonĂn Dvorák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary.back to top
